Huntsville, AL – January 27, 2020 – Sentar, Inc. (Sentar), a women-owned business specializing in advanced Cybersecurity and Intelligence services and technology, announced a gift of $100,000 to the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering Foundation (ASCTEF) in a ceremony at the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce. This donation is intended to promote and advance the state magnet school, which is scheduled to open August 2020.
“As we look at the critical shortage of cyber professionals, we believe it is imperative to start education as early as possible. As one of the founding members of Cyber Huntsville and Cyber Camp at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, we are now proud to be a founding member of ASCTE,” said Peter Kiss, Chief Visionary Officer and Co-Founder of Sentar.
Dan Lambert, Vice President at Sentar and a member of the ASCTEF Board and Cyber Huntsville committee responsible for the development of the Cyber School, said “this magnet school is critical to fostering the nation’s next generation of cyber professionals. Not only will this help increase the amount of qualified cyber professionals to fill future jobs, but it will strengthen the North Alabama workforce tremendously.”
The independent residential magnet school will provide academically motivated 7th through 12th grade students from across the state with educational opportunities and experiences in the rapidly growing fields of cyber technology and engineering. The school will also assist a broad range of teachers, administrators, and superintendents across the State of Alabama in replicating cyber technology and engineering studies in their own schools.
The Alabama School of Cyber Technology & Engineering Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, was established in January of 2018 to benefit the School. The foundation is intended to promote and connect the school with industry, academia and the government. It will serve the school to assist with funding for real property, equipment, and curriculum development as well as extra-curricular and margin of excellence programs.
